Merienke has been practising as a lawyer since the year 2000. She joined Delissen Martens in 2006.
She is a specialist in the field of employment law. Her work includes providing assistance on reorganisations, harmonisation of standards and collective agreements procedures. She has also set up several Works Councils and conducted advisory and consent procedures. Her work includes, of course, the drawing up of employment contracts, settlement agreements and contracts for the provision of services. In addition, she advises and litigates in cases at individual level, in which, for instance, inadequate performance, illness, a damaged working relationship or a non-competition clause plays a part.
Merienke is a decisive lawyer. 'I quickly get to the heart of the matter and carry on until I have achieved a positive result.' In addition, she is a creative thinker. 'My view of issues goes beyond the facts provided. And I will examine solutions which are not obvious.'
As a lawyer, Merienke stands out through her unique approach. She is the ideal cooperation partner for entrepreneurs because of her pro-active attitude and her astute legal knowledge. She takes a constructive approach in strategic policy matters and provides a full-service solution for her clients wherever possible. 'I respond not only to questions, but I also try to deal with matters on my own initiative and to share know-how. In addition, I often think up solutions which might not have occurred to the client before.' She applies a personal approach to achieve these goals. 'The interests of my clients always come first.'
Merienke also acts as peer review moderator. She is included in the ‘Register of peer review moderators’ (Register gespreksleider intervisie) of the Netherlands Bar Association. She has also acquired experience in mediation, skills that are useful in labour law practice. 'I am a good listener, can ask the right questions and have regard for the emotions of the client owing to my experience as a moderator and mediator, which also enables me to get to the core of the issue.'
Intervision & mediation
Merienke also acts as intervision discussion leader. She is included in the 'Register intervision discussion leader' of the Dutch Bar Association. She has also gained experience in mediations, which skills can be put to good use in employment law practice. "Because of my experience as a discussion leader and mediator, I can listen well, ask the right questions and take the client's emotions into account. Partly because of this, I quickly get to the heart of the problem."
