Expertise

Bas advises and guides lawyers, civil-law notaries and other professionals in the field of office organization, disciplinary law issues and professional liability.

His approach

As a former dean and director, he has a great deal of experience with compliance issues. He publishes regularly and teaches anti-money laundering regulations (Wwft), professional ethics and compliance for lawyers, civil-law notaries, tax consultants, accountants and the art sector, among others.

Bas works in this practice after his period as supervisor and dean of the Hague Bar Association (2008 - 2015). He assists large and small law and notary firms in setting up their Wwft structure and the associated processes.

As a director and supervisor, he has extensive experience with compliance issues. He is a lecturer in the field of anti-money laundering regulations and professional conduct and disciplinary law. Bas was president of the Fédération des Barreaux d'Europe (FBE), the federation of European bar associations, from 2022-2023. He has also held board positions in the arts sector and as managing partner of Delissen Martens.
